Food & Drink

Halal (Permissible)

  • Meat slaughtered in Allah's name (Zabiha)
  • Fish and seafood
  • Fruits, vegetables, grains
  • Milk and dairy products
  • Eggs

Haram (Prohibited)

  • Pork and pork products
  • Alcohol and intoxicants
  • Blood
  • Carrion (dead animals not slaughtered)
  • Animals killed by strangling, beating, etc.

The default ruling for food is halal unless specifically prohibited. When in doubt about meat, look for halal certification.

General Principles

Default is Permissibility

Everything is halal unless proven haram by clear evidence.

Harm is Prohibited

Anything harmful to oneself or others is forbidden.
