The Six Pillars of Iman

The six articles of faith that every Muslim must believe in their heart.

When asked about Iman (faith), the Prophet ﷺ said: “It is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and to believe in divine decree - both the good and the bad.”

1.

Belief in Allah

الإيمان بالله

The most fundamental belief - affirming Allah's existence, His oneness (Tawhid), His names, attributes, and actions.

Belief in the Angels

الإيمان بالملائكة

Believing in the existence of angels, created from light, who worship Allah continuously and carry out His commands without disobedience.

3.

Belief in the Books

الإيمان بالكتب

Believing in all divine scriptures revealed by Allah to His messengers throughout history, with the Quran as the final, preserved revelation.

4.

Belief in the Messengers

الإيمان بالرسل

Believing in all prophets and messengers sent by Allah, from Adam to Muhammad ﷺ, without distinction between them.

5.

Belief in the Last Day

الإيمان باليوم الآخر

Believing in the Day of Judgment, resurrection of bodies, accountability, the scales, Paradise and Hellfire.

6.

Belief in Divine Decree

الإيمان بالقدر

Believing that everything — good and bad — occurs by Allah's knowledge, will, writing, and creation.
