Miracle

Fire became cool and safe

The Story

Ibrahim (peace be upon him) is one of the greatest prophets and is known as Khalilullah (the Friend of Allah). He is the father of Ismail and Ishaq, through whom most later prophets descended.

Born in a society of idol worshippers, Ibrahim recognized the truth of monotheism through rational reflection. He questioned his father Azar about the idols and publicly challenged his people's beliefs.

When his people refused to listen, they threw him into a massive fire. But Allah commanded the fire to be cool and safe for Ibrahim. This was his first major miracle.

Ibrahim traveled to various lands, married Sarah and later Hajar, and was tested repeatedly by Allah. His greatest test came when he was commanded to sacrifice his son Ismail. Both father and son submitted to Allah's will, and Allah ransomed Ismail with a ram.

Ibrahim and Ismail rebuilt the Ka'bah in Makkah, establishing it as the center of monotheistic worship. Ibrahim is called one of the "Ulul Azm" and is revered by Muslims, Christians, and Jews alike.
