The Noble Treatment of Prisoners at Badr

Reference: Various authentic sources

After the Battle of Badr, the Muslims took prisoners from the enemy. The Prophet ﷺ commanded his companions: "Treat the captives well." One companion, Musab ibn Umayr, saw his own brother among the prisoners and instructed another Muslim to tie him tightly. When his brother complained, Musab said: "My brother is the one who tied you, not you." The Prophet ﷺ's noble treatment of captives was legendary - they were given the better food while Muslims ate dates, they were clothed and sheltered. Many accepted Islam because of this noble treatment, reflecting Al-Majid's nobility.

Lesson

Al-Majid's nobility should inspire us to treat even our enemies with honor. True nobility is shown in how we treat those who have no power over us.
