The Prophet ﷺ once passed by a man praying who was saying: "Ya Dhal Jalali wal Ikram" (O Owner of Majesty and Generosity). The Prophet ﷺ said: "Your prayer has been answered, so ask." In another narration, he said: "Persist in saying Ya Dhal Jalali wal Ikram." This name combines what makes Allah great (Jalal) and what makes Him generous (Ikram). When we call upon Him by this name, we acknowledge both His overwhelming majesty and His overflowing generosity - the perfect combination for du'a.
